Welcome to Bananas! We are a small, friendly organisation, which has been providing sessional daycare for children in the Broughton area for over 40 years. Bananas pre-school operates from purpose built premises attached to Broughton Primary School and caters for children 3-5 years of age and, in partnership with Scottish Borders Council, provides the Early Years Curriculum for Excellence within a playgroup setting.
We are a parent-run organisation - as a parent, guardian or carer of children attending Bananas, you automatically become a member. The management committee is elected each year from amongst the membership. On a termly basis elected office bearers only attend committee meetings. Open meetings are held, also on a termly basis, to which everyone is invited.
We are very proud of our achievements and participate in quality assurance schemes with regular inspections from regulatory authorities such as the Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland (previously Care Commission) and HM Inspectors of Education. All our staff undertake relevant training courses and share the desire to provide the highest possible quality of care. All employees at Bananas Playgroup are aware of Child Protection issues and follow local area child protection guidelines.
All staff are registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
We want the best for our children and we put a lot of work into making sure that the care we provide is safe, supporting, stimulating, educative and, above all, fun. We hope you will join us in going "bananas"!
